Membership at Olmsted UU

Membership in Olmsted Unitarian Universalist Congregation means something different to each member. Yet for all of us, it means that we share the seven UU principles for supporting each other in living in community and making a difference in the world.

Here are six expectations we have of one another as members:

PRESENCE:  Every member makes a difference. When you show up, you make us more than we are without you. We expect each other to show up when we can, as our lives allow.

SPIRITUAL GROWTH:  We expect each other to make a commitment to keep growing in self-awareness and awareness of our world. As a congregation, we support each other on the journey.

SHARING THE TASKS:  We expect our members to share the work that makes congregational life possible: From cleaning up after coffee hour to serving on the Board of Trustees, from teaching the children to participating in yard cleanup. We welcome your help!

SHARING THE FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: We expect our members to help us meet our expenses. And, we know that everyone’s finances are unique. We respect your need to set a pledge that’s right for you. And, we’ll give you our up-to-date financial picture.

WALKING OUR TALK: Our tradition balances self-awareness with service to others. We’ll help you put your values and our principles to work in the world.
