8th Principle Workshops

The Oberlin congregation is inviting the Olmsted congregation to join them in workshops discussing racism and the 8th Principle. OUUF will be voting in January on whether they will adopt the 8th Principle and as a part of that will be hosting four discussions about the various issues. The discussions will happen immediately after the Sunday services on Zoom.

The 8th Principle states:
“We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness byworking to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.”

The UUA published a report in February 2020 called Widening the Circle of Concern., which can be found at: https://www,uua.org/uuagovernance/ committees/cic/widening

Oberlin will discuss four of the chapters from the report: Here is the schedule:
– Theology, October 24th (complete)
– Congregations and Communities, November 14, 12-1 pm in person at Oberlin UU Fellowship & November 16, 6:30-8:30 on Zoom
– Hospitality and Inclusion, January 9th, 12-1 pm in person at Oberlin UU Fellowship & January 11th, 6:30-8:30 on Zoom
– Living Our Values in the World, January 23rd, 12-1 pm in person at Oberlin UU Fellowship & January 25, 6:30-8:30 on Zoom
