DESCRIPTION:We’ll honor Black History month with a tribute to Harriet Tubman\, an African American woman who escaped slavery in 1849 to become the most famous ‘conductor’ on the Underground Railroad. \nTubman risked her life to lead hundreds of family members and other slaves from the plantation system to freedom on this elaborate secret network of safe houses. A leading abolitionist before the Civil War\, Tubman also helped the Union Army during the war\, working as a spy among other roles. \nVernice Jackson\, past President of the Board of Directors and past Managing Director of Women in History will bring Ms. Tubman to life in costume.

DESCRIPTION:This year\, our traditional Christmas Eve service will be celebrated through the lenses of pandemic and zoom. We imagine not one but three babies being born in our  time of crisis. Shepherds and wise people among us will bring blessings and wisdom from near and far. The service will include some familiar music and readings\, and close with our tradition of lighting candles and singing Silent Night (yes\, with devices on mute\, as we are wise to the ways of zoom).
