DESCRIPTION:Volunteers are needed (maximum 10) to help keep our church grounds looking beautiful and well tended. The date is Monday\, September 14th\, for 1 or 2 hours\, starting at 10:a.m.  The following items are recommended:  gardening tools\, pail or other container for collecting weeds\, kneeling pad\, chair and something to drink. And also bring a mask for wearing indoors or when in close proximity to others. Restrooms will be available with posted guidelines. DESCRIPTION:This informal class is intended as an experimental journey of creating art as a spiritual practice. Building your creative spiritual awareness and conquering your fears are more important than having a “perfect” end product of art. I\, Eric\, am your guide or art coach in building your awareness. My goal is that you become more observant using your innate creativity. We’re on this creative spiritual journey together.The whole class will help each other in an accepting group effort on this journey. SUMMARY:Writers of Color: The Secrets We Kept
DESCRIPTION:Our September read is “The Secrets We Kept: Three Women of Trinidad” (out now). Author Krystal Sital will arrive at 1:30. \nThere\, in a lush landscape of fire-petaled immortelle trees and vast plantations of coffee and cocoa\, where the three hills along the southern coast act as guardians against hurricanes\, Krystal A. Sital grew up idolizing her grandfather\, a wealthy Hindu landowner. Years later\, to escape crime and economic stagnation on the island\, the family resettled in New Jersey\, where Krystal’s mother works as a nanny\, and the warmth of Trinidad seems a pretty yet distant memory. But when her grandfather lapses into a coma after a fall at home\, the women he has terrorized for decades begin to speak\, and a brutal past comes to light. \nIn the lyrical patois of her mother and grandmother\, Krystal learns the long-held secrets of their family’s past\, and what it took for her foremothers to survive and find strength in themselves. The relief of sharing their stories draws the three women closer\, the music of their voices and care for one another easing the pain of memory.
