Olmsted Unitarian Universalist Congregation
(OUUC)

Our Principles

WE ARE

A liberal religion for open minds, developed out of a Judeo-Christian heritage.

WE AFFIRM

The worth of human beings. We trust people’s ability to build their own faith. We assert that people should be encouraged to think for themselves. We know that people will differ in their beliefs, and we feel that these differences, generally, should be honored -- as each person is the final authority in his or her own life.

WE EXIST

To offer a warm, open supportive community. We want to provide a place where individuals can meet and find accepting, understanding friends. We look to each other for intellectual stimulation and emotional support throughout all the challenges and stages of life.

WE HOLD

That a basic principle of the Unitarian Universalist faith is freedom of individual belief, which does not require assent to any creed or statement of faith before a person can join with us on our shared spiritual search.

WE SEEK

To act as a moral force in the world, believing that ethical living is the supreme worth of religion. We seek to promote a common human community, undivided by belief or creed, social status or ethnicity, lifestyle or life stage. We also promote a respect for the natural community (“the web of existence”) which we share with all other living creatures.

WE HAVE

A deep concern for the here-and-now, and the effect our actions will have on future generations.
