Sunday Service: The Poor You Shall Always Have With You…Really?

December 16, 2018 at 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Olmsted Unitarian Universalist Church

The Bible verse ThePoor You Shall AlwaysHave With You (Matthew 26:11), is the most familiar biblical scripture used when issues of poverty are discussed in America’s churches and public forums. Often this scripture is used to avoid asking hard questions about poverty and accountability. Join Rev. Rina Shere as we apply a liberal religious lens to this verse, changing the moral conversation around the intersection of poverty and racism. The work of the Poor Peoples Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival, will also be introduced. as a social justice initiative for our time. Music by pianist Charlotte Hill
