Sunday Service: Bein’ Have with Rev. Van Becelaere

Sunday, October 21 at 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

A commonly held belief is that human behavior is the result of rational decision making based on available information. A closer look into the science of behavior reveals the powerful role our emotions play in our decision making process. We will look at our own behavior and how we make commitments in life, including our commitment to justice, using Jonathan Haidt’s analogy of an elephant, a rider, and a path. Rev. Van Becelaere will stay after the service to talk about UUJO and Ohio Issue 1.

The Rev. Joan Van Becelaere spent over 11 years as the District Executive of the Ohio-Meadville District and then Staff Lead for the Central East Region. This past year, she retired from the UUA and is the part-time Executive Director of UU Justice Ohio (UUJO).
