Sunday Service: What’s Your IQ? (Intimacy IQ)

Sunday, November 26 at 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Olmsted Unitarian Universalist Church

Why is your intimacy quotient so much more important to your quality of life than your other IQ? Sometimes confused with sex, most real intimacy is not sexual, and sex without intimacy is common. Intimacy is a sense of emotional/psychological closeness in relationships to ourselves and/or one or more others. Martin Buber said, “All relationships are in the space between us, which is sacred.” Intimacy is the “what & how in the here & now between I & thou.” Intimacy has been defined as “the venturous encounter between two equal, vulnerable people.” It is an essential aspect of any communication among couples, families and beloved communities. This is the third in a series about “What Makes a Good Life” developed by Don Leake and Mary Lee Orr of Oberlin UU, and Emily Williams of Olmsted UU. Our presenter will be Don Leake.
